Donate To Community Warehouse This Christmas

Residents throughout the metro area are encouraged to bring blankets, furniture, kitchen items, and space heaters for local families in-need

From Community Warehouse: Community Warehouse is calling all Portland Metro and surrounding area residents to collect their extra household furnishings, linens, and kitchenware and donate them to local families in need.

Portland winters can be unforgiving. Without basic necessities like blankets, couches, teapots or space heaters, our neighbors in need have a hard time staying warm and healthy. Community Warehouse, the only nonprofit furniture bank in the greater Portland metro area, helps local individuals and families build the foundation for a better life with household necessities that make a big difference.

Unfortunately, this time of year is always challenging for Community Warehouse, as the organization works hard to furnish as many homes as possible before the holidays.

"Every November and December, with the rain and fewer daylight hours, we see a significant decrease in donations," Program Director Jeff Freeman explains. "Right now, we are very low on basic items, especially beds, and in the next five weeks, hundreds of folks will move into housing and will visit Community Warehouse to pick out their furnishings. We want our community to know how much their extras can help, especially during this time. It's hard to stay warm and healthy when you're sleeping on the floor."

Please take a look around your home and bring your gently-used or new small appliances, kitchenware, bedding, mattresses, and furniture to Community Warehouse — you can find a full list of accepted items at communitywarehouse.org/give-furniture.
