Colloquially referred to as Depot Day, Girl Scouts who participate "gain exposure to these operations and hone business and entrepreneurial skills including communication, customer service, logistics, math, and group management," according to Girl Scout officials.

"Depot day is the day you really get to see what girls in our area are capable of," volunteer Katje Johnson Jacobs said in an official statement. "The sheer volume of cookies is amazing, and you see it stacked on pallets — it's a lot. You look back at the empty warehouse at the end of the day and you feel really good about it. We really appreciate all of the volunteer help, because it's hard work."
