Iron Mountain Sanitary Sewer and Pedestrian Bridge Closed for Construction
The bridge will remain closed until November when the project is done.
It may not have the prettiest name for a bridge, but the Iron Mountain Sanitary Sewer and Pedestrian Bridge is a popular path through Tryon Creek State Park. In addition to pedestrians walking the Iron Mountain Trail, it carries a wastewater transmission line through the park.
Unfortunately, the bridge is nearing the end of its useful life and needs to be repaired. As a result, it is now closed and will remain closed until the project is done sometime in November.
The Iron Mountain Trail, as a result, will be closed from the trailhead at Terwilliger to the south end of the Iron Mountain Bridge (the intersection of the South Creek Trail and Iron Mountain Trail).

The 76-foot long, three-span bridge, is owned and maintained by the City of Lake Oswego and was built in 1973. In 2007, ODOT bridge inspectors determined the bridge was in poor shape. As a result, it was closed to horse and ATV traffic.
Lake Oswego says construction will include rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer main attached to the bridge. The concrete main will be replaced by a joint less high density polyethylene line in a steel casing.
