Lake Oswego Junior High School Principal Kevin Mills Arrested

Lake Oswego Junior High School Principal Kevin Mills was arrested over the weekend for suspicion of driving under the influence.

LAKE OSWEGO, OR – A principal in the Lake Oswego School District hope that it's a teaching moment. Over the weekend, Principal Kevin Mills was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

West Linn Police stopped Mills around 10:15 on Friday night as he drove on Debok Road.

In a note that he sent to parents over the weekend, Mills wrote that his blood alcohol level had been .10, just over the legal limit.

"I am disappointed in myself and embarrassed to have represented myself in this manner," he wrote.

"As with any incident that occurs, it is important that we learn from our mistakes and grow as a person. I can assure you that this has been a life lesson for me."

This is Mills's first year as principal of Lake Oswego Junior High.

Before arriving there, he had spent a decade in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District, most recently as principal at West Linn High School.

District officials will meet with Mills to discuss the incident.
