Sherwood Instructor Joins LOSD As Elementary Principal

Patrick Shuckerow will take over as the new principal at Forest Hills Elementary School on July 1. He is replacing Amy Blakey.

From Lake Oswego School District: Interim Superintendent Michael Musick announced today that Patrick Shuckerow has been hired as the new principal at Forest Hills Elementary School. He replaces principal Amy Blakey and will begin July 1, 2018.

Shuckerow has been the Sherwood School District’s Instruction and Data Coordinator for the past three years. He has been the lead facilitator for the Sherwood Equity Team, a 30-member strategic planning team charged with increasing accessibility for underserved students and community groups.

He is the author of the Sherwood Equity Action Plan and co-creator of the Sherwood Decision Making Lens, which is designed to highlight underserved groups in district and school level decision making processes.

“I am delighted that such a talented administrator wants to join our team,” said Musick. “Patrick possesses the important ability to create and nurture internal and external relationships. His knowledge of instructional coaching practices and implementing initiatives that support equity, diversity, and inclusion are the perfect combination of skills and talents for our students and parents at Forest Hills Elementary School.”

In his current position, Shuckerow represents the Sherwood School District by serving as a member of the Early Learning Washington County Steering Committee and the Early Learning Washington County District PLC.

As part of his work, he increased pre-K opportunities for low-income families through a partnership with Community Action Head Start. From 2013 to 2015, Shuckerow was the instructional coach for Middleton Elementary in Sherwood where he provided ongoing, embedded professional development to teachers.

He facilitated Response to Intervention meetings and professional learning communities, and coached and modeled inquiry-based learning. He also led student-focused problem-solving teams.

In 2007, Shuckerow began his teaching career as a 3rd grade teacher. Shuckerow holds a master’s in education with a reading specialist endorsement and a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from George Fox University.

He received his initial administrator license in 2014 and is currently enrolled in a continuing administrator license program at Portland State University.

When he is not working, you can find Patrick reading, playing the guitar, and spending time with his kids. He and his wife, Kathy, have three children; Miles (6) and Masha and Leo (1 year old twins).

They live in Aurora, Oregon.
