TVF&R Contains Warehouse Fire Early Wednesday

No injuries were reported from the two-alarm fire at a commercial building off Southwest Tualatin Road May 9.

TUALATIN, OR — Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to a two-alarm fire at a 100-year-old warehouse off Southwest Tualatin Road early Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were first notified of a possible fire just before 3:45 a.m. May 9. When the first crew arrived and found that the structure was more like a "building inside a building," according to Battalion Chief Mark Cross, additional firefighters were sent out and the severity of the blaze was upgraded.

Having undergone multiple remodels, the building contained numerous "void spaces inside of the structure," TVF&R spokeswoman Lydia Woodman said in a statement. The complicated interior made reaching the fire a challenge, she said.

Initially, crews were led to believe part of the building was being used as a residence, Woodman said. They later learned it was an office building and that no people were inside when firefighters arrived.

The building and its interior contents reportedly sustained extensive damage. Investigators are working to determine a cause.
