Union Gospel Mission Thrift Store Gets New Hours, Celebrates With 50-Percent-Off Sale

The sale will go on for two hours Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 29, at the Mission's thrift store in Tigard.

TIGARD, OR — In celebration of newly expanded hours of service, the Union Gospel Mission has invited guests to take advantage of discounted merchandise during a two-hour period Saturday.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 29, all items will be sold at 50 percent off at the Union Gospel Mission (UGC) thrift store, located at 11611 S.W. Pacific Highway in Tigard, near Southwest 74th Avenue. The UGC will also provide refreshments for visitors during the sale.

"People often describe our store as a 'hidden gem' because it's hard to get to and not many people know about it," UGC Executive Director Bill Russell said in a statement. "We have a lot of great items for shoppers and we do have great prices, and our store helps local people overcome addiction and homelessness. We're excited to expand our hours and give more people an opportunity to shop here."

According to UGC officials, revenue taken from the thrift store directly supports the LifeChange recovery program for men, women, and children working to escape homelessness, addiction, and abuse. Additionally, the thrift store itself is used as a job training facility for people in the program.
