This Week's Events at Lake Oswego Library

Whether you're a very small child or a full-grown person, there's something for you at the library this week.

LAKE OSWEGO, OR — Libraries are the best place in town to borrow books, music and movies, allowing residents to research topics and find important references for work, school and their personal lives. The events calendar of the Lake Oswego Public Library offers a great deal of benefits for local residents. Check out these five worthwhile events coming up as we approach the end of October.

  • Preschool Storytime: Taking place every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m., this event is open to three to five year olds and their parents or guardians. There will be stories, music, early literacy tips and good old fashioned fun. Each week, kids learn a new word and get to take that word home with them in their special word bag, practicing it throughout the week. It's an excellent way to build up the vocabulary of small children. The Preschool Storytime fall schedule lasts through December 9.
  • Toddler Storytime: This event is similar to Preschool Storytime but is aimed at smaller children, two to three years old. In addition to reading great books in a group, there will be bubbles, which are always a hit with very small children. Toddler Storytime runs from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. every Wednesday through December 9.
  • Fun for Ones Storytime: The trend of fun activities for increasingly younger children continues on Thursday as this event brings together kids who are between 12 and 24 months old. There will be the usual reading of books, but also music and the all-important ingredient of fun. Like the Toddler and Preschool sessions, this takes place weekly from 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. through December 9.
  • Knitting Club: This one is for adults. Taking place once a month on the fourth Thursday from 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m., the Knitting Club is open to newcomers as well as experienced knitters who want to hang out with friends with knitting. Yarn and snacks will be provided.
  • Baby Storytime: This one is for the real babies, children birth to 12 months are welcome at Baby Storytime, which features books, bubbles, songs and laptime activities for parents to enjoy with their babies. It repeats every Friday from 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. through December 9.

The Lake Oswego Public Library is located at 706 Fourth Street. They're open Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday - Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call 503-636-7628 or see the full list of events on their website.
