West Linn-Wilsonville Admin Joins Lake Oswego Schools
Kevin Mills was hired this week to replace outgoing Lake Oswego Junior High School Principal Sara Deboy. Mills will begin immediately.

From Lake Oswego School District: Superintendent Michael Musick announced today that Kevin Mills has been hired as principal at Lake Oswego Junior High School (LOJ). He replaces principal Sara Deboy and will begin immediately.
Mills has been a West Linn-Wilsonville (WLWV) School District administrator for five years and teacher for five years.
“Kevin comes to LOSD with a wealth of secondary experience as a principal, assistant principal, athletic director, and math teacher,” said LOSD Superintendent Michael Musick. “He has lead one of the top high schools in the state and his students have demonstrated impressive results. He is excited to begin working with middle school students and supporting their transition to high school. I know he will be an excellent fit for the school and community.”

Since 2015, Mills has been principal of West Linn High School. He works closely with his leadership team to create a collaborative environment that has a student-centered focus.
Part of the work includes participating in the school-wide Equity team, which focuses on school climate, culture and, inclusivity. As part of his coordinated initiatives, he led professional development programs for teachers centered on equity, culturally responsive teacher assessments, and growth mindset.

In addition, he has effectively supported West Linn High School’s Unified Sports teams, which is recognized as a national unified school. Before becoming principal, he was assistant principal at West Linn High School where he focused on using restorative practices to help students find success in school.
He was also athletic director for one year. During that time he supervised all co-curricular programs and coaches, created and implemented a formal evaluation system for athletics, and worked closely with students and community members to celebrate their successes.
As a teacher from 2008 to 2013, Mills taught classes ranging from Algebra to Trigonometry in grades 9 through 12.
“I grew up in a household of educators. My mother, Malea Mills, taught at Lake Grove Elementary for many years, and my father, Chris Mills, worked in the Oregon City School district as a teacher, principal, and HR director for years,” said Mills. “I am excited to start a new chapter in my profession and build new relationships in the Lake Oswego Community. I got into education because of my passion for students and learning. I enjoy seeing students achieve at high levels and find their own passions within schools.”
Mills has a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Linfield College and a Masters of Education and Initial Administrator License from George Fox University.
He currently lives in Tualatin, Oregon, with his wife Katie and two children, 4-year old twins, Dominic and Sydney. He enjoys traveling, playing soccer, and spending time with his family.
