Zupan's Donating Portion of Sales to Help Build Military Museum

The chain is donating 2% of its sales Memorial Day Weekend to help raise money for the Oregon Military Museum Project.

When you go get steaks for your Memorial Day barbecue you might want to stop by Zupan's.

The grocery chain is donating 2% of its sales this weekend to help build The Brigadier General James R. Thayer Oregon Military Museum and Historic Park at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas County.

Thayer was a Lake Oswego resident.

He enlisted after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the European theater, earning Bronze and Silver Star Medals.

According to the project's website, the museum will "include over 13,000 square feet of of professionally designed, state-of-the-art, dynamic educational exhibits representing Oregon’s military history from the warrior traditions of Native Americans through today’s Global War on Terrorism. The museum’s multi-million dollar collection of 14,500 artifacts, 30,000 library volumes, and 750 cubic feet of archives includes one of the largest military firearms collections west of the Mississippi."

The museum organizers says they have so far raised $6.1 million of the $16.8 million they will need.
