Canby Cowboy Chase Dougherty Wins National Bull Riding Title
Chase Dougherty, the Canby Cowboy who left college to pursue his goal of winning a national title, did just that over the weekend.

PORTLAND, OR – The Canby Cowboy, Chase Dougherty, wants to be a world champion bull rider. The 20-year-old may not be there yet but this past weekend, he did claim the national title over the weekend.
Dougherty took first place in the National Finals Rodeo bull riding competition, It was his first time riding in the finals.
The victory also vaulted Dougherty into the second spot in the world rankings.

The young cowboy was born in Portland and grew up in Canby where he still lives.

He was a three-time Oregon High School Bull Riding Champion who was recruited by Montana State University where he competed for the next year and a half.
He left in 2016 to pursue a professional career, joining the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
"The only reason I'm still not there was to chase this dream," Dougherty told the Helena Independent Record.
