Guide Dog Struck By Hit And Run Driver By Town Center Improving
Sapphire was helping her person, Tiffany Taylor, cross the street by Town Center last week when a driver struck her. Taylor was not hurt.

OREGON CITY, OR – Sapphire's not out of the woods yet but she is improving. That's the word from Guide Dogs for the Blind, the organization that trained her and is now helping her recover from being struck by a hit and run driver last week.
"We are happy to report that Sapphire is showing some improvement in her health," the organization reported on their Facebook page.
It happened by Clackamas Town Center on Jan. 29. Sapphire was helping her person, Tiffany Taylor, cross Southeast Monterey Avenue when a car sped toward them, hitting Sapphire but sparing Taylor.

Sapphire, a 4-year-old Golden Retriever/Labrador mix was rushed to an animal hospital for care. Officials say that she suffered head injuries and severe injuries to her leg.

She has since been moved to the Guide Dogs for the Blind location in Boring where she was trained.
While she is recovering, officials say that she won't be able to return to her job helping Taylor.
The driver who struck her is still on the run.
