No Classes Wednesday For N. Clackamas, Oregon City Schools

Winter weather advisories across the metro region spurred several school closures and early releases Tuesday.

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR — The North Clackamas and Oregon City school districts late Tuesday announced the cancellation of all classes and activities for Wednesday, Feb. 21 due to the winter storm that hit the greater Portland metro region Tuesday night.

A message in four languages sent to North Clackamas School District parents Feb. 20 announced an early release for students as well as the cancellation of afternoon and evening activities, including athletics. Additionally, the after-school CARE program was also canceled.

Weather forecasts issued late Monday called for a winter weather advisory across a good portion of the Pacific Northwest, with upward of 4 inches of snow possible in some areas.

Schools across the region let out early Tuesday, expecting the snow to begin earlier in the afternoon, but the storm didn't end up hitting the area until around 7 p.m.

In Oregon City, After-the-Bell and all afternoon and evening activities were canceled Tuesday.
