Two men visiting from South Dakota got more than they bargained for when they went fishing on the Clackamas River on Monday, The men were loading their boat back on to a trailer at Clackamette Park when it broke away and slid back into the water.
One of the friends ran into the frigid water while someone on shore called 9-1-1.

The other man then jumped in after his friend.
They made it to the boat but only was able to make it aboard. He held on to this friend while they waited for rescuers from the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium.

The man was pulled from the water and transported to a hospital in serious condition. His friend, who was treated and released at the scene, told a reporter that they had been drinking.
Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium units that responded to the scene were from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, Clackamas Fire, Gladstone Fire, AMR, and Clackamas County Sheriff's Office
