Oregon State Fair: Marijuana is Coming

It's legal and it will be in competition.

Oregon State Fair organizers are hoping it's the plants that are as high as an elephant's eye and not the fairgoers. For the first time, marijuana plants will be in competition.

While most of the growing competitions — everything from the one-stem, bi-color petunia to the three bloom Zinnias under 2 inches — happen under the auspices of the Creative Living group at the fair, the marijuana competition will be administered by the Oregon Cannabis Business Council.

It will be in a separate area with its own entrance and exit and guards. No one under 21 will be allowed inside.

The competition will be about the plants — showing off what a prizewinning plant looks like. It won't be about marijuana use.
