Scam Alert: Oregon College Students Being Targeted
Warning comes from State Treasurer Ted Wheeler.

College students in Oregon are being warned about a new telephone scam making the rounds.
The person on the line claims to be from the State Treasury's Oregon 529 Network.
The caller then tells the students that they need to immediately make a payment on a loan and that they should do it immediately with a what would be hard to trace payment gift card.

While the Oregon 529 Network does facilitate education-dedicated savings account, they do not offer student loans or collect student loan payments.
State Treasurer Ted Wheeler urges anyone getting such a call to just hang up.
