Study Proposes Later School Start Times For Oregon City Schools
Why should the district consider a later start time for high school students?
Why should the district consider a later start time for high school students? A committee of Oregon City educators has spent the last year studying how later school start times can help improve the health of high school students. The American Academy of Pediatrics, Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Medical Association all agree that later school start times have potential benefits to physical and mental health, safety, and academic achievement. A proposal to change school start times as early as Fall 2020 will be presented to the School Board at their regular meeting on December 9th. The Board may adopt the proposal as soon as January 13th.
