Accused Child Rapist On The Run, Police Say

Newberg man Margarito Sanchez-Vega failed to appear for trial last Thursday, prompting Marion County law enforcement to issue a warrant.

WOODBURN, OR — Woodburn police are actively searching for a Newberg man accused of raping a girl under 12 years old. Margarito Genaro Sanchez-Vega reportedly failed to appear at his trial last Thursday, prompting Marion County law enforcement to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Sanchez-Vega, 47, is charged with first degree rape, unlawful sexual penetration, and sex abuse stemming from incidents that occurred in 2009. He was originally charged with the rape and attempted rape of two sisters in 2016. The attempted rape charge was dismissed in 2017.

Sanchez-Vega is described as 5-foot-3 and roughly 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
