Deputies Arrest Man Following Car Chase In Wilsonville
Nicholas Swisher was initially seen driving slowly without his headlights on shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, police said.

WILSONVILLE, OR — Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies, with help from the Beaverton and Tualatin police departments, arrested a man Friday morning following a car chase through Wilsonville, officials said.
Nicholas James Swisher, 31, was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on a plethora charges, including reckless driving, attempt to elude a police officer, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), and possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine. His bail is set at $47,500.
According to police officials, Swisher was seen by a deputy around 5 a.m. July 7 driving slowly, without his headlights on, through a neighborhood near Southwest Meadow Parkway and Southwest Wilsonville Road. When the deputy attempted to stop Swisher's car, Swisher reportedly drove off.

Deputies followed Swisher until he crashed his vehicle on Southwest Boeckman Road, near a closed construction site on Southwest 95th Avenue. After the crash, Swisher left the car and ran into an overgrown field, police said.

With help from the Tualatin Police Department and a Beaverton Police K9 unit, Swisher was tracked down in about an hour and taken into custody without injury, police said, noting that he was found roughly one half-mile from where he left his car.

Swisher has an extensive criminal history in Clackamas and Multnomah counties, as well as records in Tillamook and Columbia counties, dating back to 2005.
