Local Physical Therapist to Present at Orlando Conference

Physical Therapist Joshua Kidd has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 26 and 27. Kidd practices at Advance Sports and Spine Therapy, located at 25030 SW Parkway Ave. #100. He is also a faculty member for the McKenzie Institute and the clinical coordinator for the McKenzie Institute USA Orthopaedic Residency Program.

Kidd will deliver a presentation on Oct. 26 entitled “Are you sure you know what you got? Extremity Pain of Spine Source.” The lecture will highlight the Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) system of musculoskeletal assessment and classification. It will focus on the use of MDT as a differentiation process, to establish what proportion of patients presenting with primary extremity pain have a spinal source of their symptoms.

The following day, he will deliver a presentation entitled “Shoulder Pain: Are we getting it right? The use of directional preference to redefine musculoskeletal care.” The lecture will highlight different models of movement-based classification symptoms as alternative methods that may fill the current care gap in the effective assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders (for the shoulder joint in particular), with efforts to lead practitioners toward better patient care.

Practicing since 2007, Kidd’s career has been focused in orthopedics. He completed his board certification in orthopedics in 2010, received his master’s in orthopedic manual therapy in 2015 and completed fellowship training through Daemen College in 2016. He is continually involved in clinical research and has been published in multiple peer reviewed journals.
