Microsoft To Close Wilsonville Surface Hub Facility
While Surface Hub development will continue at Microsoft's Redmond, Wash., facility, the Wilsonville closure will result in 124 layoffs.

WILSONVILLE, OR — Microsoft on Tuesday announced its Wilsonville Surface Hub facility will close in September, effectively eliminating 124 jobs. The closure announcement comes days after the company acknowledged its plans to slash roughly 3,000 jobs globally, mostly affecting its sales staff.

The layoffs will reportedly begin Sept. 8, starting with 61 jobs. An additional 63 layoffs will occur around Nov. 6, while a remaining skeleton crew will see to the final stages of closing the facility. Some employees will reportedly be offered positions in other departments.
