4 Slain In Oregon; Suspect Shot Dead Trying To Kill Girl

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office tweeted Sunday morning that four people, including at least one infant, were killed.

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR — Four people, including at least one infant, were killed in Clackamas County and deputies killed the suspect as he tried to kill a child. The county sheriff's office tweeted overnight Sunday that multiple people were dead and there was an officer-involved shooting near state Route 211 and South Barlow Road.

The office later said a male and three females were killed by the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Mark Leo Gregory Gago. The victims ranged in age from infant to retirement age. Gago was shot to death by deputies as he tried to kill a girl, authorities said. No deputies were hurt in the incident.

"Suspect was attempting to kill a child when deputies saved her life by using lethal force against the suspect," the office tweeted.

The shooting happened about 25 miles south of Portland.

The victims were identified as 9-month-old Olivia Lynn Rose Gago; Shaina Sweitzer, 31; Jerry William Bremer, 66; and Pamela Denise Bremer, 64, all of Woodburn. Two people survived the incident. An investigation remains ongoing.
