Sherwood Student's 'Gun' Prompts Investigation

A student with an airsoft toy gun led officers to Sherwood High School.

SHERWOOD, OR -- A report of a Sherwood High School student with a gun prompted an investigation Monday. Sherwood Police Department said the incident was reported around 3:15 p.m. Jan. 26 when officers received a phone call about a person inside a car with a gun.

Officers located the person, who is a student at the high school, around 3:30 p.m. and learned the gun in question was an airsoft toy gun. Another student reportedly posted to social media about the gun.

Police said the videos were recorded off campus around lunch time and not posted until the end of the school day. However, students were off during the day of the incident, police said.

There were no threats made in the social media posts.
