Theft Suspect Eludes Sherwood Police
Brandon Lopez is suspected of trying to steal license plates in Sherwood on Monday. He escaped on foot.

SHERWOOD, OR — Police on Monday ordered two Sherwood schools to go into lockout while officers searched the area for a man suspected of attempting to remove a license plate from a vehicle that apparently wasn't his. The search came up short, police said, but the suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Brandon James Anthony Lopez of Newberg.
A resident in the Woodhaven neighborhood reportedly saw Lopez trying to remove a vehicle's license plate and, deeming his activity suspicious, called Sherwood police around 12:30 p.m. Sept. 24. When officers arrived at the scene, they located Lopez and an unidentified woman sitting in a car.
Lopez, who was reportedly in the driver's seat, bailed and ran away on foot while officers detained the woman, police said. While officers then searched for Lopez, the Sherwood Police Department asked that both Sherwood High School and Archer Glen Elementary be temporarily placed on lockout.
