Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Gets New Director
Michael "Mike" McCarty comes to Wilsonville after nearly 30 years working for parks departments in California

Wilsonville has a new director for its parks and recreation department. The city on Thursday announced the hiring of Michael "Mike" McCarty.
McCarty, who begins on February 27, has spent nearly 30 years working in parks departments in California and Arizona, most recently in San Moreno Valley, CA., where he was Director of Parks and Community Services.

"I am very excited to be a part of the team in Wilsonville and I see this as a great opportunity to make a difference in what is already a very nice town with exceptional parks," he said in a statement.
He also worked in Yuma, AZ, Napa Valley, CA, San Leandro, CA, and Ukiah, CA. He started his career in Paso Robles, CA., where he was a Recreation Supervisor.

"We are excited to have Mike join our team," said Assistant City Manager Jeanna Troha. "He brings a wealth of experience in parks and recreation, a collaborative leadership style and a passion for enhancing the quality of life for people that live and work in the community."
The city says that in his free time he enjoys visiting baseball stadiums around the country.
