"Precipitation will gradually spread from south to north through the mid-Atlantic late Monday afternoon into Tuesday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Rob Richards said in a news release about the early week storm. The storm is expected to begin as snow in the Philadelphia region, and could then change to a mix of sleet and freezing rain depending on the temperature.

The storm could impact the Tuesday morning commute.

"While the heaviest snow totals are expected to remain farther west in the Midwest, there could still be a small pocket of over 6 inches in the Northeast as well, most likely in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania," according to the AccuWeather forecast.
