2750+ Coronavirus Cases Reported Tuesday In PA, Shattering Record

Hospitalizations continue to increase throughout the state, reaching their highest levels since mid-June.

HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania has once again broken its record for most coronavirus cases reported in a single day.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Tuesday reported 2,751 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 198,446.

"Daily increases are now comparable with what we saw in April 2020, and today’s increase is the largest daily increase to date," the Department of Health said in a news release.

Also Tuesday, there were 23 new deaths reported. Pennsylvania has had a total of 8,696 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Tuesday's total broke a record set just Friday, when 2,219 additional positive cases were reported.

Hospitalizations continue to increase throughout the state, reaching their highest levels since mid-June. According to state data, over the past two weeks, an average of 930 people per day were hospitalized for the virus.

As of Monday, there are more than 1,170 people hospitalized in Pennsylvania with 110 people on ventilators.
