If you crave a few nights of solitude in the woods, but are not exactly the outdoorsy type that enjoys camping, a modern tree house may be more your speed.

There are several tree houses for rent in Pennsylvania, and they range from downright luxury living to more simplistic and casual.

Here are a few to check out:

The Fernstone Retreat in Farmington (pictured above) has a dream-like treehouse available to rent by the night. Situated on a secluded property along a natural trout stream, the treehouse is hand-crafted of natural timber. Inside, it boasts amenities absent from most treehouses: a glass-doored, pebblestone-floor shower, a mini kitchen, and even a private hot tub. For a more family-friendly option, consider the treehouse at the Lake In Wood resort in Narvon. It accommodates two adults and two children. It has some modern-day amenities, including air conditioning for hot nights and even a television. If a treehouse isn't your thing, the resort also rents out a covered wagon and even a teepee. Over at the Brick House Bed & Breakfast in Oak Ridge, there's a treehouse that looms 35 feet up. It sleeps two adults, and features a small fridge, microwave, and television. The price is $150 per night, and there is a two-night minimum. More information here.
