6 Killed In Memorial Day Weekend Crashes: PA State Police
Six people died in five crashes over the holiday weekend, and one of those crashes involved alcohol, Pennsylvania State Police said.
PENNSYLVANIA ? Six people died in five separate crashes across Pennsylvania during the four-day Memorial Day Weekend period, according to Pennsylvania State Police data.
The fatal crashes occurred in Derry Township, Westmoreland County on Sunday; Clinton Township, Lycoming County on Friday; Straban Township, Adams County on Monday; Mahoning Township, Carbon County on Friday; and Clifford Township, Susquehanna County.
Jason Reed, 50, of Palmerton, and Trevor Hunsicker, 36, of Kingston, were killed in the Mahoning Township crash after being ejected from a 2022 Subaru that crashed head on into a pickup truck, state police said. Alcohol was a factor in the crash, authorities said.

Also killed in crashes were Brianna Michelle Lucas; David M. Nangle, 74, of Painted Post, New York; and Joshua M. Haines, 24, of Blairsville, state police said.
Details on the Clifford Township crash were not made available.

In total, the weekend saw 756 crashes that hurt 181 people. Of those 756 crashes, 46 involved intoxicated driving.
Troopers arrested 467 people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs over the weekend.
Numerous citations were also issued over the holiday period, including 8,834 for speeding, 1,234 for failing to wear a seat belt, and 172 for not securing children in safety seats.
These statistics cover only those incidents investigated by the state police and do not include incidents to which other law enforcement agencies responded.
