HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf was among the attendees at Wednesday's inauguration of President Joseph Biden in Washington, D.C.
Biden was sworn in as the 46th U.S. president at the U.S. Capitol, taking the oath of office from Chief Justice John Roberts. Vice President Kamala Harris took the oath from Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
Wolf said it was an honor to attend the inauguration, which took place exactly two weeks after a mob stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to overturn the certification of the Electoral College results.

"The inauguration of a new president is a time of hope and promise in our nation. It is a moment of great change, but also one of great possibility, and hope for a better future. It is a time for bold vision and strong leadership," Wolf said in a statement following the event.
He noted the day was "more solemn than we are accustomed to, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the despicable attack that took place at the Capitol on January 6. "

On his first day as president, Biden has said he plans to take a series of executive actions on the pandemic, climate change, immigration and other issues to undo what was at the heart of Trump's agenda.
"The will of the people has been heard, and the will of the people has been heeded. We've learned again that democracy is precious and democracy is fragile. At this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed," Biden said in his inaugural address. "This is America's day. This is democracy's day. A day in history and hope, of renewal and resolve."
