Hurricane Remnants To Bring Heavy Rain, Storms To PA Monday

PENNSYLVANIA — The remnants of former Hurricane Delta will move over the East Coast Monday, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to the Philadelphia region.

That coastal system will interact with another deep low pressure system that is expected to move toward the Northeast by Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook in Eastern Pennsylvania. The agency says a "long period of widespread showers" will impact the region through Tuesday, producing 1 to 2 inches of rain.

While flash flooding is not anticipated, nuisance flooding in low lying areas and or areas with poor drainage will be possible, the Weather Service said.

Here is the current local forecast:

Monday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 57. Northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday night: Rain likely before 11 p.m., then showers likely, mainly between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 54. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 72. West wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 50.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 73.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54.
