Latest Eastern PA Snowfall Estimates, Timing For Thursday Storm

PENNSYLVANIA — The next round of snow is headed our way, and is expected to bring 7 inches to the Philadelphia region. A Winter Storm Warning is in place from 4 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service, "heavy mixed precipitation" is expected during the storm and could make travel difficult. "The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning, Thursday evening, and Friday morning commutes," the weather service said in its Winter Storm Warning.

According to the latest forecast, snow is expected to arrive early Thursday morning and could be heavy at times. The heaviest snowfall is expected between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., when up to an inch per hour is possible.
Precipitation is expected to change to sleet and freezing rain by late afternoon or early evening, but some light wintry precipitation could continue into the day Friday.

In response to the incoming weather, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission plan to implement travel restrictions on trucks and other vehicles on certain roadways. Additional speed and vehicle restrictions may be added depending on the current conditions. Any restrictions added during the storm can be found here.
"Motorists are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel if possible," PennDOT said.
