Timing
According to The National Weather Service, snow will arrive in Philadelphia around 2 p.m. Sunday. It will reach the suburbs to the north by 3 p.m.
Snowfall will spread across the area during the afternoon and into the evening. Around 2 to 4 inches of accumulation is expected during this first round.
There may be a lull in heavy accumulating snow late Sunday into Monday morning. Then, a band of heavier snow is expected to arrive over some portions of the area Monday into Monday night.
"Totals within the band will likely be significant but exactly where this band sets up is still uncertain," the weather service said.
Snow will be heaviest during the day Monday, when more than an inch per hour could fall. Snow will likely continue into Tuesday, but additional accumulation then will be limited, forecasters said.
The exact storm track remains uncertain and a shift could bring the heavier snow amounts farther north or south, forecasters said Sunday morning.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is advising motorists to avoid all unnecessary travel during the storm. Several restrictions have been put in place. See the latest here.
