PHILADELPHIA, PA — Another winter storm is in the forecast for eastern Pennsylvania later this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which will be in place from Wednesday night through Friday morning across the Philadelphia region.

According to that agency, heavy mixed precipitation is possible throughout Thursday and into Friday. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch are expected over the course of the storm.

According to forecasters, precipitation will begin as snow Thursday morning, with the heaviest snowfall expected Thursday morning into the early afternoon.

Sleet and freezing rain will then mix in with the snow Thursday evening. Light wintry precipitation could continue into the daytime hours on Friday.

"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute," the weather service said in its Winter Storm Watch, which was issued Tuesday afternoon.
