PA Breaks Record, Reports 11K+ New COVID-19 Cases In Single Day

For the second day in a row, Pennsylvania has reported more than 11,000 coronavirus cases in a single day.

PENNSYLVANIA — For the second day in a row, Pennsylvania has reported more than 11,000 coronavirus cases in a single day.

There were 11,763 additional positive cases of COVID-19 reported Friday, bringing the statewide total to 398,600 cases. "This is the highest daily increase of COVID-19 cases," the Pennsylvania Department of Health said in a news release.

On Thursday, officials reported 11,406 new cases. That record was broken a day later.

There were also 169 new deaths reported, bringing the total deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pennsylvania to 11,113.

There are currently 5,071 people in Pennsylvania hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 1,065 patients are in the intensive care unit.

The trend in the 14-day moving average of number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 3,600 since the end of September.
