PA Sees Highest Single-Day COVID Case Increase Tuesday
Pennsylvania on Tuesday reported 2,875 new coronavirus cases — its highest single-day total since the start of the pandemic.
HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania on Tuesday reported its highest single-day coronavirus case total since the start of the pandemic. There were 2,875 additional positive cases of COVID-19 confirmed Tuesday, bringing the statewide total to 214,871.
"This is the highest daily increase of cases," the Pennsylvania Department of Health said in a Tuesday news release.
Also Tuesday, the state confirmed 32 new coronavirus-related deaths. There have now been 8,855 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania's statewide percent-positivity rate went up by more than a percentage point in the past week. Counties with concerning percent-positivity rates are increasing and cases continue to trend upward. Additionally, the incidence rate of the virus is up, hospitalizations have increased, and more patients are on ventilators.
