Village Whiskey serves up the best burger in all of Pennsylvania, according to The Daily Meal's 2019 assessment. The Daily Meal noted that Village Whiskey's burgers are "lightly packed that they're almost fluffy." The house-baked "pain au lait" — similar to brioche — was also praised.

Good Dog Bar & Restaurant's Good Dog Burger was once recognized by Thrillist as one of the very best in Pennsylvania. USA Today this year also praised the burger, naming it among the 25 best in the state. It's a half-pound sirloin burger stuffed with Roquefort and topped with caramelized onions on brioche.
Prohibition Taproom, also in Philly, was among Thrillist's additional "best burger" picks in Pennsylvania. The burger is made with grass-fed beef, topped with local cheddar and served on a snowflake bun.
Lucky’s Last Chance is the 2019 Philadelphia Burger Brawl "Judge's Choice" winner. The restaurant, with locations in Manayunk and South Philadelphia, won for "The Pickle Monster" — two quarter-pound beef patties, American cheese, pickles, fried pickles, dill-flavor potato chips, pickle relish, and pickle aioli on a butter-toasted roll.
In the suburbs:
The Bercy in Ardmore won second place for "Judge's Choice" in the 2019 Burger Brawl for their Wagyu Burger Boa, which is pickled cucumber, spicy aioli, pickled vegetables and a beef wagyu patty.
In August, Philadelphia Magazine lauded the following suburban burger joints in a feature about the region's best:
- The Silverspoon, Wayne
- Stove and Tap, Lansdale
- Tired Hands Brewing Company, Ardmore
- Autograph Brasserie, Wayne
- Mistral, King of Prussia
- The Whip Tavern, Coatesville
