State Police Seize $11.4M In Drugs Last Quarter: See Full List

More than $11.4 million of heroin, fentanyl, and other illegal drugs was confiscated by Pennsylvania State Police during the second quarter of 2019, authorities announced this week. That's double that what state police confiscated in the first quarter of 2019, when $5.7 million in prohibited drugs was seized.

Between April 1 and June 30, state police seized 84 pounds of heroin and nearly 33 pounds of fentanyl, with a combined street value of more than $3.1 million, according to officials.

In addition to the heroin and fentanyl, authorities seized more 80,000 pills, than $4.1 million in processed marijuana, and more than 700 marijuana plants.

The drug seizures were a result of routine traffic stops as well as in-depth investigations involving several law enforcement agencies, said Colonel Robert Evanchick, commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police.

“Our continuing interdiction efforts underscore the department’s commitment to stopping drug smugglers and dealers in Pennsylvania," Evanchick said.
