The chance of rain starts Monday afternoon, with thunderstorms possible in the nighttime hours.

More showers and a chance of thunderstorms are in the Tuesday forecast. On Tuesday night, there's a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms.

The unsettled conditions at the outset of May start a month that The Weather Channel predicts will bring above-average temperatures to our region.

This Afternoon: A chance of showers, mainly after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 71. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 3 and 5 a.m. Low around 61. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers before 7 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tuesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday:Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 a.m., then showers likely between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
