Ambiance Design Celebrates 10 Years in Business
What Started as a "One-Woman Show" Grew Into a Successful Business.
AD Window Treatments, formerly Ambiance Design, a woman and veteran-owned, Hunter Douglas Centurion Gallery Dealer, celebrated its tenth anniversary with a reception at their Blue Bell showroom on January 24. The celebration was attended by designers, clients, vendors, industry professionals and family members of owners Laura and Dan Hawley.
What began as a “one-woman show” and an opportunity for an Air Force veteran to own her own business, has grown into a successful operation with 8 employees and hundreds of satisfied clients. After leaving the Air Force, Laura Hawley worked at a Hunter Douglas manufacturing site in Willow Grove. While working in customer support and later as an installer, she quickly became a product expert. In December 2007, Laura lost her job as a result of the recession and decided to sell Hunter Douglas products out of her car.
The business grew, and in 2013, Hawley purchased a small office space in Fort Washington, which became the first Ambiance Design showroom. That year she invited her husband Dan Hawley to join the company as co-owner, Chief Executive Officer, and primary installer. In 2016, the opportunity to invest in becoming a Centurion level Hunter Douglas dealer led the Hawleys to move the showroom to its current location in Blue Bell, PA.

Over the past 10 years, the Hawleys have invested in professional training, including Dan becoming a Hunter Douglas Master Installer (SM), and they have hired additional design consultants to meet the needs of their clients. As a direct result of their commitment to the business and their clients, AD Window Treatments has been recognized with awards from several organizations. They are a six-time winner of the Best of Customer Service award from Houzz, the leading online platform for home remodeling and design. AD Window Treatments has also won the Contractor of the Year (COTY) award in 2014, 2015, and 2016, as well as two Synergy Awards from the Home Builders Association in 2017. Most recently, AD Window Treatments was nominated as the Intelligencer/Courier Times “One of the Best in Bucks” for Window
Treatments.
The Hawleys are huge proponents of giving back to the community, especially veteran-focused causes such as the Travis Manion Foundation, the Veteran’s Resource Center of Montgomery County Community College and Alpha Bravo Canine.

“We are beyond excited to be celebrating 10 years of business! It has been such a blessing to watch Ambiance Design evolve into AD Window Treatments and grow into a thriving small business,” said co-owner Laura Hawley. “I am truly grateful to share this experience with much of my family working alongside my husband Dan and I.” Hawley added, “We would like to thank all those who have supported us over the years; we would not be where we are today without each and every one of you.”
