AMBLER, PA — An Ambler doctor who illegally sold dangerous opioids to addicts and wrote false prescriptions has been sentenced to prison.

Brian C. Keeley, 62, a Philadelphia resident, will spend the next four to 20 years behind bars after being convicted on numerous counts of unlawful prescribing and corrupt organization, court documents show.

Keeley, a doctor of osteopathic medicine at Ambler Family Practice on 10 Cavalier Drive, was one of four Montgomery County doctors arrested in September of 2018 on similar charges of illegally prescribing opioids to addicts and drug traffickers around the region. The prescriptions led to numerous overdose deaths.

Keeley provided prescriptions straight up for cash, according to authorities said. Patients would come in, tell him what they wanted, and how much they wanted. Keeley then wrote the false prescription, charging the patient based on the quantity.

A confidential information bought prescriptions for numerous controlled substances from him over a period of several months, according to authorities.

A 26-year medical veteran, Keeley graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His focuses were family medicine and holistic medicine.
