Ambler Takes On $3.59 Million in Debt in Purchase of Mattison Avenue Elementary
The former Wissahickon School District elementary school was approved for sale to Ambler Borough in November.

On Dec. 3, Ambler Borough approved a $1.89 million note of agreement of sale acquisition costs and a $1.7 million open line of credit, thus increasing its debt in order to buy Mattison Avenue Elementary for use of a future municipal building and potential community center, according to The Ambler Gazette.
Council voted 6-2 to approve an ordinance to increase the debt, per the report. Council members Tom Kenney and Fran Tomlinson were the opposing votes.
The Wissahickon School Board approved the sale of the building to Ambler Borough Nov. 29.
According to the Gazette, the sale of the current borough hall will pay down the $1.7 million credit, which is also interest-free for three years.
