CHOP Announces Major Expansion In Montgomery Co.

ABINGTON, PA — Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has announced plans to build a new 37,000-square-foot Specialty and Urgent Care facility in Abington.

The announcement of the major development took place on Friday, at the intersection of Old York Road and Susquehanna Road.

The facility will include 20 to 30 exam rooms, a physical and occupational therapy gym, audiology, speech therapy, radiology, and EEG services.

It's designed to be a more convenient health care destination for families in eastern Montgomery County, lower Bucks County, and northeast Philadelphia.

In addition, 10,000 more square feet of space is planned for future clinical programs.

The on-site Urgent Care Clinic will offer after-hours care for children with "mild and moderate" illnesses that do not require an emergency room, CHOP said.

The Abington site will be the fifth CHOP location in Montgomery County, joining the recent addition in King of Prussia.

Construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2020, with an estimated opening date of Feb. 2021.
