New 300-Unit Luxury Apartment Building Planned In Fort Washington

Developers are planning to transform a 14-acre office park into a new luxury apartment complex in Fort Washington.

FORT WASHINGTON, PA — A large new luxury apartment complex is coming to Fort Washington, developers announced recently.

The project will involve the total transformation of a a 14-acre office park, located on 1125 Virginia Drive. The site currently holds a 60,000 square foot building which will soon be demolished.

“We look forward to contributing to the transformation of the park into a more vibrant mixed use setting and believe our thoughtfully designed residences will be well received in a market that historically has been underserved with new supply," John Forde, the senior vice president of development at Equus, which purchased the space, said in a statement.

The 300 unit luxury apartment community will be built in two phases, officials said. The first phase involves 200 units in a five-story building with an elevator. That phase will also include the construction of an outdoor pool, fitness center, and indoor and outdoor lounge areas.

Equus did not say give an estimate on the construction timeline. Forde added that the project was made possible by the 2019 Greater Fort Washington zoning ordinance, which allowed for a "reimagination" of the park.

Equus bought the site from ADP, which is relocating its offices to another location, for $5.9 million.

The project was designed by Barton Partners, a Norristown-based firm. The site is convenient to the nearby I-276 access ramp, as well as a number of offices in the business parks nearby.
