Whitpain Township OKs $22M Budget With No Tax Increase

The millage rate remains at 3.2 mills for the fourth year in a row.

Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors last week unanimously adopted a $22 million 2014 budget with no tax increase, according to The Ambler Gazette.
The millage rate remains at 3.2 mills, and has remained that way since 2010.
One mill equates to $1 in taxes per each $1,000 of assessed property value. A residence assessed at the township average of $226,000 will still pay $723, according to the article.
Personnel costs of $8.5 million are the largest general fund expense, per the report. The township plans to spend $2,273,100 from the capital reserve fund to pay for parking lot improvements, administration building renovations and sidewalk improvements, per the report.
