Whitpain's Firefighters Get 4-Year Contract, Changes Benefits for New Hires

The Whitpain Professional Firefighters Association—made up of Centre Square Fire Company's three paid full-time firefighters—has agreed to a new four-year contract with Whitpain Township Supervisors last month, reports The Ambler Gazette.
The new contract offers three main things affecting new hires:

• Eligibility for medical benefits for only themselves; families and dependents are not eligible.
• Eligibility under a defined contribution plan, not a defined benefit plan.
• Salary increases over four years, at 2 percent per year
