Wissahickon Announces New Athletic Director
Longtime assistant prinicipal, social studies teacher, and football and track coach James Carines will helm Wissahickon's sports programs.

AMBLER, PA — Wissahickon School District has announced the hiring of a new athletic director.
Longtime social studies teacher and football and track coach James Carines will helm Wissahickon's athletics programs. The school board approved his hiring on June 11.
Carines will replace former AD Randy Cuthbert, who has served since January 2016 and is taking a position with another district.

“I am looking forward to building upon the initiatives started by Dr. Cuthbert, and developing our student athletes both academically and on the field," Carines said in a statement. "I believe there are many transferrable life skills that are taught through sports and extracurricular activities and want to encourage all of our students to make the most of these opportunities during their WHS tenure."
Carines has been with Wissahickon in some capacity since 1999, first as a social studies teacher, then an assistant principal of the high school, and then of the middle school, according to the district.

He's also been an assistant football coach at Wissahickon, as well as a the throws coach for the track and field team. He's held each position for three years.
"Mr. Cairnes’ skills are second to none," WHS Principal Lynne Blair said in a statement. "His leadership, vision, knowledge, and commitment to our students demonstrated over the last 20 years will provide exemplary support and direction for our programs."
