Merion Station Is Philly Region's 13th Most Expensive Suburb

MERION STATION, PA — The bucolic landscape. The expansive, historic estates. The excellent schools. The proximity to Philadelphia and New York.

There are many obvious perks to living in Merion Station. To enjoy them, you'll pay a hefty price.

Merion Station is now the region's 13th most expensive place to purchase a home. That's according to an analysis by Philadelphia Magazine, which lists the Philadelphia region's 50 most expensive neighborhoods for home purchases.

The average home purchase price in Merion Station in 2018 was $674,514 — up 3 percent from the year before.

Lower Merion Township overall was No. 16 on the list with an average 2018 home price of $645,049. Wynnewood is the area's 35th priciest and homes had an average of $523,299 in 2018.

Villanova, where last year's average purchase price was $1,125,280, was named the area's most expensive.

Several other Main Line communities are among the 50 most expensive places in the Philadelphia region, including Gladwyne (3rd), Bryn Mawr (11th), Wayne (18th), and Devon (24th).
