$534K Awarded To Parkside-Cynwyd Trail Extension Project
When complete, trail users will be able to travel from Manayunk to Bala Village and the city line, according to Montgomery County officials.

BALA CYNWYD, PA – A trail project in Bala Cynwyd got more than half a million dollars in funding from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, according to Montgomery County officials.
The Parkside-Cynwyd Trail Extension project in Lower Merion got $534,000 from the DVRPC.
The project would extend the Parkside-Cynwyd Trail from its current end at the Cynwyd SEPTA station to the SEPTA Bala station at City Avenue, according to the county.

When complete, trail users will be able to travel from Manayunk to Bala Village and the city line, where a partnership with the City of Philadelphia will eventually continue the trail to Fairmount Park.
The extension of the Parkside-Cynwyd Trail is part of the proposed trail system featured in Montgomery County’s comprehensive plan, Montco 2040.

This is just one of two county projects that was awarded funds from the DVRPC through its Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program. The other project would establish trail to connect Abington Township to Jenkintown Borough, to Rockledge Borough, and the Pennypack Trail.
The source of the funding is federal Transportation Alternatives funds, according to the county.
