Bala Cynwyd Lord & Taylor Closing Amid Bankruptcy Filing

The store's parent company recently filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy which will lead to the City Avenue store closing.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — The parent company of Lord & Taylor recently announced numerous stores will be closing amid a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. Among the stores that will be closed is the Bala Cynwyd location.

Le Tote, Inc., the chain's parent company, announced on Aug. 2 that it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Lord & Taylor is the latest in big-chain companies to file for bankruptcy amid the coronavirus pandemic, which also includes Men's Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank.

The store closing process for Lord & Taylor has already begun at the 19 locations, including at the Bala Cynwyd location at 121 E. City Ave.

The business began hosting a store closing sale following the announcement this month. An exact closing date has not yet been announced.
